PASADENA, Texas (Jan. 22, 2019) – Oceans Healthcare today announced the expansion of its behavioral health services with the Jan. 30 opening of Oceans Behavioral Hospital Pasadena. The 22-bed hospital is the second Oceans facility in the greater Houston area.
The Plano-based company opened nearby Oceans Behavioral Hospital Katy in 2015 and operates five hospitals across Texas.
Oceans Behavioral Hospital Pasadena will provide inpatient behavioral health treatment options for adults 50 and older suffering from depression, anxiety, behavioral disturbances associated with early-stage Alzheimer’s and dementia, and other behavioral health challenges. Licensed mental health and medical professionals will guide each patient and their family or loved ones through individually designed treatment programs that include group, individual and family therapy.
“Unfortunately, Harris County and the city of Houston have experienced an increase in several negative mental health indicators in recent years, including the suicide rate and the percentage of individuals experiencing frequent mental distress,” said Stuart Archer, Oceans Healthcare CEO. “Establishing a Pasadena hospital is a step forward in furthering Oceans Healthcare’s mission to help individuals receive the treatment they need and, hopefully, reverse these trends. We look forward to continuing to build relationships with community leaders and health care colleagues in the greater Houston area.”
Founded in 2004, Oceans Healthcare has grown to a network of 17 behavioral health hospitals across Louisiana and Texas. Last year the company expanded services at nearly half of its locations with the development of new programming for active duty and veteran military members, adolescents and patients managing substance use disorders.
Texas ranks 43rd nationwide for a high prevalence of mental illness and scarce access to care, according to the 2019 Mental Health America report.
