Industry veteran will oversee the new behavioral health hospital opening in Norman, Oklahoma this June
NORMAN, Okla. (May 8, 2024) – Behavioral Health Center at Porter Health Village, a new, state-of-the-art behavioral health hospital opening in Norman this spring, today announced the appointment of Bill Southwick as hospital administrator. An experienced health care leader, Southwick will lead the hospital with a dedication to patient-centered care and expanding access to services.
The Behavioral Health Center at Porter Health Village is a joint venture partnership between Norman Regional Health System and Oceans Healthcare. The organizations last year broke ground on the new hospital which will expand access to behavioral health services in south central Oklahoma, more than doubling Norman Regional Health System’s current inpatient capacity and increasing services. The hospital will also add outpatient services, opening an Intensive Outpatient and Partial Hospitalization Program in the months following the official opening.
With more than two decades of health care leadership experience, Southwick joins the team with a reputation for creating a culture of excellence. He has overseen operations at organizations of increasing breadth and brings a wealth of knowledge to his role.
Southwick led the behavioral health operations of Banner Health – one of the largest nonprofit hospital systems and integrated delivery networks in the country. During his time, he oversaw operations for the system’s behavioral health inpatient services, multiple intensive outpatient programs and a specialized school program for children ages 4-12.
“Bill’s background working as a provider and strategic leader in acute care and behavioral health makes him the perfect person to help us launch our partnership with Norman Regional Health System,” said Stuart Archer, Oceans Healthcare’s CEO “His expertise and commitment to delivering nothing short of excellence will be invaluable as we mold the Behavioral Health Center at Porter Health Village into a trusted community resource for individuals in need of high-quality mental health care.”
The Behavioral Health Center at Porter Health Village will provide inpatient behavioral health care to adults ages 18 and older, including dedicated services for seniors 55+.
