Marrero campus’ outpatient program expands behavioral health services for patients 12-17
NEW ORLEANS (April 2, 2024) – Oceans Behavioral Hospital Greater New Orleans, a behavioral health provider focused on healing and long-term recovery, today announced the opening of an adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) at its Marrero campus, at 4500 Wichers Dr. The program will provide specialized mental health treatment to young people ages 12-17 managing depression, anxiety, substance use disorder and other behavioral health challenges.
The Oceans Healthcare Greater New Orleans network includes campuses in Marrero, Gretna and Kenner. As the nation is experiencing a national emergency around child mental health, Oceans is focusing resources on expanding this type of care in the communities it serves.
Increased access to youth mental health services is a critical need in Louisiana. According to the 2023 Mental Health America report, only 12% of youth living with severe depression in the state consistently receive the care they need.
“It’s an honor to expand our services in the Greater New Orleans area. We’re passionate about helping patients find the right care across different ages and stages of life,” said Abby Huffman, IOP director of Oceans Behavioral Hospital Greater New Orleans. “By expanding our offerings to this underserved population, we hope to give more young people a compassionate haven to address their mental health needs while maintaining their current routines.”
Overseen by board-certified or board-eligible psychiatrists, the program will offer individual, family and group therapy options and tools to support ongoing symptom management and overall well-being. Session times will be tailored to patients’ academic and personal schedules.
Oceans Behavioral Hospital Greater New Orleans’ adolescent outpatient treatment program currently offers sessions every Monday through Thursday from 4:30-6:30 p.m. For more information about Oceans Behavioral Hospital Greater New Orleans’ locations and services, visit oceansgreaterneworleans.com.
