Telehealth
You lead a very busy life. You go to work all day during the week, pick up the kids from school, go grocery shopping, get dinner ready, and make sure it’s on the table. You take care of the house and your pets. You get yard work done. Maybe somewhere in there, you even manage to get some quality time with your spouse.
The Oceans Experience
Oceans is committed to providing quality behavioral health in a safe environment. With our telehealth capabilities we can conduct therapy, education and diagnosis via phone or video. We accept Medicare, TRICARE and most private insurance.
On top of all of that, you find yourself dealing with increasing anxiety and depression. This can take the stress of your daily life from manageable to nearly impossible. If you’ve developed a substance use disorder while you were trying to cope, you probably feel like your life is a house of cards; one wrong move and everything will collapse. How are you going to fit treatment into your busy schedule?
If you’re unsure how to start the treatment you need, you’re not alone. In 2021, 94% of surveyed people living with substance use disorder did not receive any treatment for their condition, according to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. But we know that treatment is the first step to reclaiming a rich and fulfilling life for many people living with substance use disorder.
At Oceans Healthcare, we know that finding room for treatment in an already hectic schedule can feel overwhelming. If you’re looking for treatment options that don’t add extra time away from your home and family, our telehealth program where you can be seen remotely by a board-certified psychiatrist might be a good option for you.
What We Treat: Substance Use and Mental Health Disorders
Experiencing mental health disorders can be a debilitating experience that gets in the way of your day-to-day activities. It can be difficult to even get up in the morning. You persevere anyway, knowing that there are too many things that have to get done. Whether or not the people around you see it, you need more support. Participating in substance use might help you cope with your symptoms for a while, but in the long term, substance use makes your mental health condition worse.
At Oceans Healthcare, we’re experienced in treating complex dual-diagnosis conditions. You may be experiencing a mental health condition like anxiety or depression, or you might have been participating in the use of substances like opioids or alcohol. We know substance use disorders and mental health conditions go hand in hand, and we will inspire you with holistic solutions using telehealth.
How We Treat: The Oceans Experience
Even though this treatment program is conducted remotely, we still hold ourselves to the same standards we would if you were sitting in the office of one of our board-certified psychiatrists. We prioritize ensuring you receive the same quality of care.
Treatment at Oceans is guided by six principles:
- We treat everyone with dignity by providing a safe and nurturing environment where they can expect to be treated with compassion and respect, even in a remote setting.
- We provide comprehensive care centered around the mind-body connection, to ensure long-term wellness.
- Our commitment to quality drives us to seek out improvement so that our staff and clients are always growing into the best versions of themselves.
- Our integrity means that we believe in being as transparent with our clients as they are with us.
- With our advocacy, we help our patients and their families receive the assistance they need at our facility and beyond.
- Through teamwork, we are always working as a unit to uplift one another during our successes and our struggles, so all of our patients and staff know that they are never alone.
What Is Telehealth?
Telehealth is a practice of healthcare providers and their clients meeting virtually via Zoom and other video conferencing applications. It became popular during the COVID-19 pandemic as a way to ensure social distancing and reduce the number of people in hospital settings.
Since the end of the pandemic, remote options have remained popular because they provide clients with the ability to be more in control of their schedules. It can also be a good option for people who cannot attend in-person appointments. In addition to one-on-one therapy, our online program hosts group therapy sessions. We don’t want anyone to feel isolated during the treatment experience.
What to Expect With Telehealth at Oceans Healthcare
We know that starting a new form of treatment can be nerve-wracking, and you may not be sure what to expect. Our goal at Oceans Healthcare is for treatment to be the same with our virtual programming as it is at any of our facilities. The difference should simply be that you can receive services from the comfort of your own home, without the need to travel to our offices.
The specifics of your visits will depend on which of our programs you are participating in. Our program includes options for children and adolescents, who need care but have school or extracurricular activities that prevent them from visiting our facilities regularly. We know that recovery doesn’t just impact the patient who is experiencing symptoms, but the entire family unit. That is why we provide virtual therapy options for caregivers as well as family therapy options.
We also provide virtual medication management and education so that we can meet all of your mental health needs.
Benefits of Telehealth: What Makes It a Good Option?
Virtual options can have many benefits, especially for busy professionals and caregivers who may not have the freedom or time to maintain regular in-person appointments. Our primary goal is to ensure that you receive the care you need when and where you need it, regardless of circumstance. This is an important tool for ensuring we stay connected, even when life gets in the way.
Other benefits of telehealth include:
- Clinicians can provide immediate assessment for in-patient treatment
- Accessibility to therapy and other healthcare for people with limited mobility
- The comfort of receiving care in your own home
- Reduced/ eliminated travel times
- Flexibility to fit treatment into busy schedules
- Not being limited by geography when choosing treatment options
6 Signs That Telehealth Is Right for You
This is not the right option for everyone. Those who need intensive treatment for co-occurring disorders may not find it a good fit. Many clients meet with our board-certified psychiatrists and clinicians in person first before transitioning to telehealth treatment. If this is the case for you, your team will help you decide if or when transitioning to a remote form of treatment is right for you.
This might be a good fit for you if you:
- Prefer meeting remotely
- Have a mobility limitation that makes travel difficult
- Are providing care for a child or relative that prevents you from making it to in-person appointments
- Live in an area that makes it difficult to access appropriate care
- Experience a mental health condition that prevents you from leaving your home
- Have a work schedule which limits your ability to come to in-person appointments
This is a good option for people who are participating in our intensive outpatient program (IOP) and who need more support than traditional once-a-week therapy provides, but do not want or need a partial hospitalization program. It can ensure that they are able to participate in IOP activities without compromising their work schedules.
