Oceans Behavioral Hospital – Tupelo Announces New Intensive Outpatient Program for Adolescents

November 6, 2023

Behavioral health provider expands treatment options for adolescents ages 12 to 17

TUPELO, Miss. – Oceans Behavioral Hospital – Tupelo, a behavioral health provider focused on healing and long-term recovery, today announced the opening of its Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for adolescents ages 12 to 17. The program will provide specialized mental health treatment for young people managing depression, anxiety, substance use disorder and other behavioral health challenges.

More than 54% of youth in need of treatment for depression go without care in Mississippi, according to the 2023 Mental Health America report. Recognizing the need for flexible, high-quality behavioral health care options in the state, this new service allows adolescents to manage their mental health while maintaining their current routines.

“We believe the traditional inpatient setting isn’t always required to access the best care. Many young people need the flexibility to balance their commitments while prioritizing their mental wellness,” said Veronica Keith, IOP director of Oceans Behavioral Hospital Tupelo. “Our treatment program is ideal for individuals who seek high-quality care that is built around their lifestyle and responsibilities.”

Overseen by board-certified or board-eligible psychiatrists, the program will offer individual, family and group therapy options and tools to support ongoing symptom management and overall well-being. Session times will be tailored to patients’ academic and personal schedules.

Oceans Behavioral Hospital Tupelo currently offers sessions Monday through Thursday from 3:30-6:30 p.m. The hospital also offers inpatient behavioral health treatment options for adolescents ages 12-17, older adults, and seniors 55 and older.

For hospital admissions criteria or referrals, please call (662) 240-2459.
