U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee Focuses on Improving Mental Health Treatment

U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D., chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, led a field hearing in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, focused on improving treatment for mental health and substance use disorders.

The hearing brought together leaders in behavioral health, advocacy, and community-based care to discuss treatment needs, the connection between mental and physical health, substance use disorder recovery, and support for individuals experiencing serious mental illness.

Oceans Healthcare CEO Stuart Archer was among the witnesses to provide testimony, joining representatives from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, Odyssey House Louisiana, NAMI Southeast Louisiana and Set Free Indeed Ministry.
