Oceans Healthcare Plans New 66-Bed Behavioral Hospital in Lacombe, La., Expanding Access Through Regional Clinical Collaboration

PLANO, Texas – Oceans Healthcare today announced plans to open a new behavioral hospital in Lacombe, La., expanding access to high-quality behavioral healthcare for St. Tammany Parish and communities across the Florida Parishes. The hospital is expected to open in 2027.

The new Oceans Behavioral Hospital – Northshore will be located within the Ochsner Northshore Medical Complex and will serve adults through inpatient and outpatient behavioral health services.

“People experiencing a behavioral health crisis should be able to get the care they need close to home,” said Stuart Archer, Chief Executive Officer of Oceans Healthcare. “This new hospital is an important investment in this rapidly growing region of Louisiana and will help expand access to inpatient care for adults who need support. We are proud to work alongside healthcare leaders across the region to strengthen care for patients and families.”

Oceans Healthcare is developing the project in close collaboration with Ochsner Health and other trusted healthcare providers across the region, with the shared goal of making behavioral healthcare more accessible across the Northshore. “Expanding access to behavioral health services is a critical need across the Northshore region, and the health and well-being of our community depends on having access to compassionate, high-quality care,” said Alisha Lacour, MD, CEO, Northshore and Mississippi Gulf Coast region, Ochsner Health. “Through our collaboration with Oceans Healthcare and other local partners, we are strengthening a coordinated approach to care that better supports individuals and families during some of their most challenging moments. This new hospital represents an important step forward in expanding access and meeting the growing behavioral health needs of our community.”

The 66-bed hospital is expected to play a key role in addressing the growing demand for behavioral health services across the Northshore, providing patients with timely access to care in a supportive, locally connected setting. Construction and development efforts are underway, with additional details to be announced as the project progresses toward its anticipated 2027 opening.
