Oceans Healthcare Opening Second Hospital in Mississippi

November 29, 2022

Oceans Behavioral Hospital – Tupelo Launches January 2023

TUPELO, Miss. – Behavioral health provider Oceans Healthcare today announced its second facility in Mississippi. Oceans Behavioral Hospital – Tupelo will open at 4579 South Eason Boulevard, Suite B, becoming the second Oceans hospital in the state. The organization opened Oceans Behavioral Hospital – Biloxi in early 2019.

Oceans Behavioral Hospital Tupelo will provide inpatient and outpatient mental health services for adolescents and seniors experiencing challenges like depression, anxiety or other behavioral health concerns. Licensed medical and mental health professionals will guide each patient and their family through individually designed treatment programs that include diagnosis and symptom education.

“Oceans likes to grow where we’re needed and often that’s large non-metropolitan communities where behavioral health services are difficult to access either because there aren’t enough providers and inpatient capacity, or due to geography,” said Stuart Archer, CEO of Oceans Healthcare. “We look forward to increasing care options for Tupelo and Lee County, and we’re grateful to join a community already supported by great local health care like North Mississippi Medical Center.”

Mississippi ranks 47th nationwide in access to mental health care, according to the 2022 Mental Health America report. In fact, less than 50% of older adults with mental or substance use disorders receive treatment, the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration reports. By continuing to expand access to behavioral health treatment, Oceans aims to reduce this number and help people access quality care in the state.

“It’s critical that individuals living with mental health conditions and their families know there is a place for them to go if they need help,” said Kasie Wood, administrator of Oceans Behavioral Hospital Tupelo. “We look forward to further expanding the treatment options offered in the Tupelo community and hope to positively impact the lives of its residents. No one should have to manage their mental health alone.”

Oceans Behavioral Hospital Tupelo will be accredited by The Joint Commission, certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and fully in network with all payers. The hospital opens January 2023. For more information, call (662) 268-4418.
