Behavioral Health Center at Porter Health Village
Residents in south central Oklahoma now have expanded access to behavioral health services.
Norman Regional Health System and Oceans Healthcare constructed a new, state-of-the-art behavioral health hospital. The 48-bed Behavioral Health Center at Porter Health Village more than doubled Norman Regional’s previous inpatient capacity for behavioral health patients.
Opened June 2024, the freestanding hospital is located on the Norman Regional Porter campus and replaced the existing 20-bed behavioral health unit.
Services include:
- Treatment for adults 18+ and dedicated services for seniors 55+
- Intensive outpatient program for patients 18+
- Partial Hospitalization Program for patients 18+
- Patients under the care of board-certified or board-eligible psychiatrists
- Daily monitoring with medical physician consultation
- Substance use disorder treatment
- Diagnosis and symptom education
- Medication education and management
- Caregiver and/or family therapy options
- Group therapy
- Recreational therapy
- Supportive discharge planning
Referrals accepted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Accepting Medicaid, Medicare, Tricare and most private insurance.

When will the behavioral health hospital open?
Pending any substantial construction or weather-related delays, a ribbon cutting is planned for May 2024, with the first patients admitted June 2024.

The Behavioral Health Center at Porter Health Village is a freestanding facility located on the Norman Regional Porter Health Village campus at 506 Wellness Way. Porter Health Village is located in central Norman at the intersection of Porter Avenue and Johnson Street.

How many beds will the behavioral health hospital have?
The new hospital will have 48 beds, more than doubling Norman Regional’s current inpatient capacity for behavioral health patients.
What safety measures are in place for both patients and staff?
Will there be an emergency department?
While we will accept patient referrals 24 hours a day, the behavioral hospital will not have an emergency department. Nearby emergency rooms are available at Norman Regional Nine on Ann Branden Blvd. and Norman Regional on HealthPlex Parkway.
Will you accept patients around the clock?
Yes, we will accept referrals 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Patients will be admitted depending on available space or transitioned to the appropriate care setting should that be necessary.
Will the behavioral hospital accept insurance, and what payment options are available?
Yes, Medicaid, Medicare, Tricare and most private insurance will be accepted.
