Nov 19th, 2015

PLANO, Texas (November 17, 2015) – The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in the United States, today recognized six Oceans Healthcare hospitals in Louisiana and Texas as 2014 Top Performers on Key Quality Measures®. Oceans Healthcare is a nationally recognized behavioral health provider focused on healing and long-term recovery.

Hospitals recognized in Louisiana include:

 Hospitals recognized in Texas include:

All hospitals were recognized as part of The Joint Commission’s 2015 annual report “America’s Hospitals: Improving Quality and Safety,” for attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance for inpatient psychiatric services. Oceans Healthcare hospitals in Louisiana represented five of only nine facilities recognized that provide behavioral health treatment, and five of the 28 total hospitals recognized across the state.

“Dedication to patient safety and providing treatment with dignity is part of our company’s core convictions,” said Stuart Archer, CEO of Oceans Healthcare. “Our patients must trust in the quality of our services and the performance of our teams. This recognition is evidence of the hard work, dedication and teamwork of each hospital’s clinical and support staff. We are very proud of these hospitals and the example they set for all Oceans Healthcare facilities.”

The Top Performer program recognizes hospitals for improving performance on evidence-based interventions that increase the chances of healthy outcomes for patients with certain conditions. Those recognized for inpatient psychiatric services specifically were measured on their admission screenings, medication management practices and discharge planning services.

Oceans Healthcare hospitals take great pride in their consistent recognition as Top Performers year over year.

To be a 2014 Top Performer, hospitals had to meet three performance criteria based on 2014 accountability measure data, including:

  • Achieve cumulative performance of 95 percent or above across all reported accountability measures;
  • Achieve performance of 95 percent or above on each and every reported accountability measure with at least 30 denominator cases; and
  • Have at least one core measure set that had a composite rate of 95 percent or above, and within that measure set, achieve a performance rate of 95 percent or above on all applicable individual accountability measures. A 95 percent score indicates that a hospital provided an evidence-based practice 95 times out of every 100 opportunities.

“Delivering the right treatment in the right way at the right time is a cornerstone of high-quality health care. I commend the efforts of Oceans Healthcare for its excellent performance on the use of evidence-based interventions,” said Mark R. Chassin, MD, FACP, MPP, MPH, president and CEO, The Joint Commission.
